Boomerang Employee

A former employee who leaves an organization and is later rehired.

Definition

A boomerang employee is someone who resigns or is let go, but later returns to work for the same organization — often bringing new skills or perspective gained elsewhere.

Why It Matters

Many companies now formally track and re-engage strong past employees as a lower-risk hiring pipeline.
